The awards are not stopping! This time, the Mazda CX-9 has been named to Car and Driver magazine’s first annual 10-Best Trucks and SUVs list! more The Mazda CX-9 has been honored for its upscale design and engaging driving performance. It’s the last Mazda vehicle to go through a complete redesign. Engineers made it lightweight. They also included the efficient SKYACTIV™ Technology. Of course, they also includes Mazda’s ever-present KODO Soul of Motion design. New Features Among its most notable new features is its turbocharged SKYACTIV™-G 2.5T engine. It produces a hearty 310 lb-ft of torque from just 2,000 rpm. The engine is housed in a vehicle weighing approximately 250 lbs. less than its predecessor. The SKYACTIV™-G 2.5T helps CX-9 achieve a 25% improvement in combined EPA-estimated fuel economy versus its predecessor. Mazda CX-9 puts power to the ground via its predictive i-ACTIV all-wheel-drive system. It can adjust power output to each wheel more than 200 times per second to maintain optimum grip. Mazda’s i-ACTIV all-wheel drive integrates the functions of 27 sensors to accurately paint a picture of road conditions. This makes sure the driver and passengers feel secure even when road conditions become less than favorable. Signature Trim Level We also can’t leave out how Mazda introduced the new top Signature trim level on CX-9. This trim level further enhances the crossover beyond the previous top CX-9 Grand Touring trim level. On the Signature trim level, the Mazda CX-9 comes exclusively with Auburn-colored Nappa leather seating surfaces. It also features real aluminum whose design take its inspiration from Japanese swords. The rosewood interior trim comes from premium guitar maker Fujigen. Mazda CX-9 joins the compact Mazda3 sedan and hatchback and MX-5 Miata soft top and MX-5 RF retractable fastback as 2017 Car and Driver awardees. Mazda3 and MX-5 were announced as winners in the car categories during November’s Los Angeles Auto Show. Mazda Motorsports Update Do you follow Mazda Motorsports? Well, they just announced the drivers that will control the two Mazda RT24-P race cars in the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with the Mazda Team Joest. They are racing under the Daytona Prototype international rules package. This is also the first season for a Joest Racing and Mazda combo. As a matter of fact, keep reading for the details! more Team Joest Announcement It’s a 10-race season. Long-time Mazda drivers Tristan Nunez and Jonathan Bomarito, both American, are joined by two British racers. Harry Tincknell and Oliver Jarvis will be racing for Mazda for the first time. For the four longest endurance races, the quartet of drivers are supplemented. Those drivers will be by IndyCar racer Spencer Pigot and 2017 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) touring car champion René Rast. “Mazda has had a driver development program since 2007,” explained John Doonan, director of Mazda Motorsports in North America. “So, it’s a big part of our Mazda Prototype program to feature drivers that have come up through the Mazda ranks, whether that’s in sports cars like Tristan Nuñez, or the open-wheel side of things with Bomarito and Pigot. We’re thrilled that those superb young men are back with us again in 2018. “Working with Joest, we were also able to secure fast, winning drivers from their recent history, which makes Jarvis and Rast a good fit, as is Tincknell, who has been successful in both GT and Prototype cars,” said Doonan. “We ask a lot of our drivers outside the car as well, so it’s great to add drivers who will fit the chemistry of what we hope to achieve as a team.” Promising Year Ahead It looks like Mazda Motorsports and Team Joest has a promising year ahead of them. Have you heard of the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association Show? Mazda put on quite the impressive show at the 2016 Specialty Equipment Marketing Association Show in Las Vegas, NV last month! more SEMA If you’re not familiar with the SEMA Show, it provides designers the chance to showcase their imaginations when it comes to new auto concepts. For Mazda, this year was no different! They offered two concepts this year with the MX-5 Miata Speedster Evolution and the MX-5 RF Kuro. The MX-5 Speedster Evolution is lighter and what they describe as “ruthlessly efficient”. The MX-5 RF Kuro is based upon the 2017 MX-5 retractable fastback that’s going on sale in the U.S. early next year. MX-5 Speedster The MX-5 Speedster made its entrance to the automotive world at the 2015 SEMA show. It’s Mazda’s recognition and appreciation of the lightweight and no-frills driving experience of the sports cars of the 1950s. It weighs in at just over 2,000 pounds and its weight reduction thrust its performance and heightened the open-air experience for which the roadster is known. The MX-5 Evolution sharpens Mazda’s performance history. MX-5 RF Kuro Meanwhile, in Mazda’s new concept, the MX-5 RF Kuro, they have adopted many of the technologies that are seen in the MX-5 Global Cup vehicles. However, these are packaged in a more street-focused manner. The MX-5 RF Kuro shares it adjustable suspension with the MX-5 Global racecar. It also shares its Brembo dual-piston front brake calipers. Both vehicles were built using parts that Mazda autocross and racecar drivers can purchase via MazdaMotorsports.com for their MX-5s. Christmas Eve by Emily It was the night before Christmas and all were asleep. No one made a noise, not even a peep. The little tikes slept, all tucked in their beds With pictures of St. Nick whirling about in their heads. A little boy waited for old St. Nick. And all of the sudden he heard the snap of a stick. A sound out of doors made the boy jump. He looked out the window and saw St. Nick on a stump. The young boy looked with his eyes all aglow At the man dressed in red standing out in the snow. He tip-toed out of his room and down the hall. He saw old St. Nick putting out presents and all. He watched very quietly, peeking through a crack in the door. He shifted positions and heard the creak of the floor. The jolly man turned, and through his white beard smiled. They just stood there and stared at each other a while. St. Nick whispered, "Merry Christmas to you." The young lad smiled and said, "And the same to you." The jolly man went to the roof with a thump. The boy looked out the window and saw him land on the stump. St. Nick flew away calling, "Ho, ho, ho!" And the little boy looked and saw only the snow. He looked at the tree and saw presents there. And then he knew that he might need to share. He told his parents of his night in the morning. Smiling they replied, "You were only dreaming, darling." The 2016 Mazda CX-9 wins! Mazda recently announced some pretty awesome news about the 2016 Mazda CX-9! more Back in October, the Mazda CX-9 competed in the annual Texas Truck Rodeo. The Texas Truck Rodeo is a yearly event put on by the Texas Auto Writers Association. Over 70 automotive journalists from across the country met at the Longhorn River Ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas. It was a two day event. Over 70 vehicles competed for the top honors. The judges were so impressed with the CX-9, they honored it with the top prize in the full-size CUV segment. We think that’s some really great news! Complements Nic Phillips, who is the Texas Auto Writers Association President, has this to say about it: “Mazda’s all-new CX-9 earned class-leading marks from our judges particularly in exterior styling, premium interior finishes, the performance of the new SKYACTIV™-G 2.5T powertrain and overall personal appeal in the highly competitive full-size CUV category,” He continued by saying “Mazda’s CX-9 is a combination of sleek style with exciting, driver rewarding dynamics and family efficiency which makes for an award winning package, one that carried the CX-9 to be our runner-up for the overall CUV of Texas award.” Ten Years It’s been ten years since the Mazda CX-9 was introduced. We all know that the Mazda3 is an awesome car. The current generation of the Mazda3 has won multiple awards from across the globe. However, for the 2017 model year, the MAzda3 returns refined and repackaged with more standard equipment. more New Features The 2017 Mazda3 will now feature Mazda’s new G-Vectoring Control. This Mazda-exclusive technology uses the engine to refine the steering and handling to match the driver’s inputs. It will also offer enhanced sound insulation. This new features is aimed at complementing Mazda’s redesigned interior. The vehicle’s trim levels have been simplified as well. Those seeking the enjoyment of driving a manual transmission are certainly going to be pleased. The top-level, stick-shift Mazda3 Grand Touring will now be available with the Premium Package AND i-ACTIVSENSE. These new features are awesome! As with last year, Mazda3 comes in Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trim levels. Models being designated as “i” (2.0-liter engine) or “s” (2.5-liter engine), Mazda has simplified the lineup with Sport and Touring models being equipped with the smaller engine and Touring 2.5 and Grand Touring models being equipped with the larger offering. “We are more than happy to give our customers what they want with greater availability of the manual transmission,” said Robert Davis, senior VP, U.S. Operations, MNAO. “Mazda3 has a nearly 15-percent take rate for its manual transmission, with most of those buyers opting for higher trim levels. Where so many competitors have retreated in the segment, we see an opening to engage those who enjoy the driving experience without compromise.” Sport Entry Mazda3 Sport models come equipped with a 155-horsepower SKYACTIV™-G 2.0-liter engine. It's paired with either a SKYACTIV™-MT six-speed manual transmission or a SKYACTIV™-DRIVE six-speed automatic. Mazda3 Sport sedan models can be further upgraded with the Preferred Equipment Package. This package includes 16-inch alloy wheels and heated side mirrors with integrated turn signal lamps. It also includes Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Other features include rain-sensing wipers, automatic on/off headlights, bright beltline trim, premium cloth-trimmed sport seats and satin trim throughout the interior. Touring Sedan Mazda3 Touring sedan and five-door models build upon the Sport with Preferred Equipment Package. It offers a new-design 18-inch wheel package, Smart City Brake Support and dual-zone automatic climate control. It also includes Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry and six-way power driver’s seat with manual lumbar adjustment. The car has heated leatherette front seats and steering wheel. Mazda3 Touring sedan buyers can also opt for more features with the Popular Equipment Package. This package adds a rear decklid spoiler, a shark-fin antenna and BOSE® nine-speaker Premium audio system. The package also offers SiriusXM satellite radio with a four-month subscription and power moonroof. Through Mazda’s Drive For Good program, Mazda North America Operations recently announced the company’s biggest in-kind vehicle donation to the American Red Cross. more Partnership Mazda’s donation of 16 vehicles reaffirms its commitment to their Drive For Good program. This time, they are helping support a long-standing partnership between Mazda North American Operations and the American Red Cross. Mazda was the first US automaker to join the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program. Since Mazda was able to increase their donation for this year, they have become a $1 million Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program member. Mazda also remains the only the only automotive manufacturer to be a member at the million dollar level. Over the course of daily business activity, Mazda realized their ability to provide a highly needed resource. Vehicles! Ultimately, Mazda will be able to deliver a mode of transportation so the business activities of other organizations can be completed. This donation to the Red Cross gave the opportunity to give back to the communities in which they do business! Most in Need The 16 vehicles will be donated. Those vehicles will be delivered to Mazda dealerships all over the country. They will reach those American Red Cross offices that are most in need of new transportation. The American Red Cross will use these vehicles to deliver emergency supplies. The vehicles will also be available to give services to families that have been affected by disaster. “Through the Mazda Drive for Good program, Mazda has the ability to work with strong non-profit partners throughout the United States—and the American Red Cross continues to provide an incredible partnership sharing similar values as ours,” said Robert Davis, senior vice president of U.S. operations at MNAO. “Partnerships such as these are important to the very being of who Mazda is as an organization.” This is what makes Beach Mazda proud to sell such terrific cars. The MX-5 RF, an extension of the MX-5 family, fully embodies Mazda’s core value of “Lots of Fun”. This value has defined the Mazda Miata MX-5 over the course of its 27 year history. This new roadster features a fastback design. It also offers a breathtaking open-air feel. After all, driving fun is the name of the game. Obviously! Production of the MX-5 reached one mission units in April of this year. It continues to be highly acclaimed and boasts over 280 automotive awards from around the world. Sold Out Unfortunately, if you weren’t able to place your order, Mazda has already sold out of the 1,000 unit allocation for the 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF retractable hardtop. When open ordering began on October 3rd, it only took 13 hours to sell out of the remaining cars. Furthermore, 67% of customers opted for the manual transmission. Each of the vehicle headed for the United States will be painted Machine Gray Metallic. They will all have Auburn Nappa leather seating, a hand-painted black roof and special badging. Those three features are exclusive to the Launch Edition for 2017. Customers will also receive a serialized Tourneau 42mm MX-5 RF Launch Edition watch. Deliveries of the new 2017 Mazda Miata RF Launch Edition will take place in early 2017. Since these models have sold out, Mazda’s focus now shifts to the standard production Miata MX-5 Club and Grand Touring models.
