Trim Levels The entry level Mazda CX-3 Sport trim level has a bunch of standard features like cloth seats, power windows and power remote door locks. It also has power mirrors, two USB ports, Bluetooth hands free calling and audio pairing. We also can't forget it comes standard with MAZDA CONNECT as well as a whole host of other great features. The mid-level CX-3 Touring replaced the Sport's standard 16-inch alloy wheels with 18-inch wheels. It also replaced the cloth seats with leatherette and Lux Suede upholstery. Did you know the CX-3 Touring also comes standard with Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert? It also has Mazda Advance Keyless Entry, heated front seats and heated side mirrors! What is Sustainable Zoom-Zoom? Mazda recently announced their new long-term vision for technology development. It's "Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030". It looks ahead to the year 2030. Part of this new technology are plans to introduce a next-generation engine called SKYACTIV™-X in 2019. This new engine will be the world's first commercial gasoline engine that uses compression ignition. The original Sustainable Zoom-Zoom vision was announced back in 2007. Diesel Mazda CX-5 Last year, Mazda announced they were introducing a diesel model of the 2017 Mazda CX-5 for the second half of 2017. Well, we have arrived in the second half of the year and there's no word yet on when they will arrive. This will be Mazda's first diesel engine in the United states when it does arrive. more According to Car and Driver, the 2018 Mazda CX-5 diesel could produce a segment leading fuel economy and performance. It's also possible that with the recent problems with Volkswagen's diesel vehicles, Mazda could gain a whole new group of buyers. This is a pretty interesting point of view. In the Works We know Mazda has promised a new diesel engine for a while now. With their impressive technology, we're sure a diesel CX-5 model will be impressive. Keep reading for all the details about the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car Championships! more 2017 Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car Championships The season is already half over for the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car Championships. The Mazda team racers are off to a really strong start. Making its debut in the TCA class (Touring Car A) is the fourth generation MX-5 race car. Already it has achieved five wins in the first six races. All total, the Mazda team claimed 16 out of 18 podium positions thus far in the TCA class. They are also the leading drivers, team and manufacturers championships just after six of 12 races. Racing Teams Setting the pace are S.A.C Racing teammates Elivan Goulart and Matt Fassnacht. Dean Copeland from Copeland Motorsports and Eric Powell from Tech Sport Racing are quickly closing the gap. Having opened the season with an ideal birthday weekend at VIR, Fassnacht scored two pole positions and two wins. By doing that, he took the early points lead. After that, he scored a second and third places for a grand total of six podium finishes in the first six races. Goulart, who is the defending TCA Champion, completed races in second, fourth, second and second places before obtaining two wins at Lime Rock Park. He's also the points leader among all the racers. Copeland won at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. One Millionth Everyone loves the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Now, the one millionth MX-5 Miata has return to Mazda headquarters in Hiroshima after its year-long globe circling tour. more Celebration The one millionth Mazda MX-5 Miata is a commemorative model that celebrates the production of 1 million units of the iconic sports car. Mazda created the tour in order to celebrate reaching one million units with their fans. It was a sort of “thank you” to everyone who showed support for the model over the years. During the tour, the vehicle was displayed at more than thirty events in Japan, Germany, Spain, Canada and the United States among others. Thousands of MX-5 fans signed their names on the bodywork. In the United States alone, the “Millionth Miata Celebration Tour” made 18 stops between August and November of last year. “Seeing so many signatures from all over the world really brought home the fact that people from different countries, cultures and generations have supported the MX-5 for more than a quarter of a century,” said Masashi Nakayama, Program Manager and Chief Designer of the fourth-generation MX-5. “We are forever grateful to these fans, and we will continue working to elevate this car, a symbol of Mazda’s dedication to driving pleasure, to the realm of high culture as we set our sights on the next milestone – 2 million units.” On Display Upon returning to Japan, the One Millionth Miata took part in the Hiroshima Flower Festival parade that was held on May third. It then sat on display in Mazda’s headquarters for five days. We have to agree, this is some pretty special news. Mazda Motorsports Update Here's some pretty awesome Mazda Motorsports racing news! Thanks to Mazda driver development scholarships, two young men will have the opportunity to race for Cape Motorsports. They will drive Mazda Soul Red cars. It's not often that we get to write about Mazda Motorsports. This is some pretty terrific news! more Anthony Martin Anthony Martin, 22, of Kalgoorlie, Australia, makes his Pro Mazda debut this year after a six-win season earned him last year’s USF2000 championship. Martin won the title with Cape, and will stay with the team for the next step of the Mazda Road to Indy ladder. Looks like he's headed to the top! Oliver Askew Oliver Askew, 20, of Jupiter, Fla., began racing karts at age seven. He burst upon the open-wheel racing scene last year being selected for the Team USA Scholarship. He utilized that scholarship in order to finish 2nd in the prestigious Walter Hayes Trophy Grand Finale at Silverstone, England. The Team USA honor also qualified him for the $200,000 Mazda Road to Indy Shootout, a competition among championship-winning drivers from around the world. Askew won the event, thus earning a Mazda scholarship for his first full season in the USF2000 series. Success “The success of the $200,000 Mazda Road to Indy Shoot-out was way beyond our expectations,” said Mazda’s Doonan. “We knew we were breaking new ground by bringing drivers from all over the world and that it would be good… but it turned out to be fantastic. Everyone at Mazda was blown away by it, and especially Oliver. “We’re proud to welcome him to the Mazda family. With the new Tatuus USF-17 chassis debuting, the 2017 season is very much up for grabs, but by choosing to compete with Cape Motorsports, Oliver has put himself in a position for early success. Based on nearly three dozen of the new USF-17 cars being sold, the entire Mazda Road to Indy is in for a real treat in this championship.” “It is a great honor to have both scholarship drivers compete on behalf of Cape Motorsports,” Dominic Cape said. “The support that Mazda gives young drivers is truly remarkable, and we would like to thank Mazda and John Doonan for establishing the scholarship programs. Mazda Drive For Good Wrapping up the fourth year of the Mazda Drive for Good program, Mazda North American Operations recently announced it will donate more than $5.4 million to select charities across the United States in 2017, as a result of money raised during the 2016 Mazda Drive for Good® event. more Mazda's Pledge In addition to the monetary donation, Mazda employees, dealers and partners across the nation have pledged over 67,500 hours of charitable service in 2017, as a result of vehicle test drives. “Being an active member in the community is an important aspect of who we are as a company and what the Mazda Drive for Good program stands for,” said Masahiro Moro, president and CEO of MNAO. “Because of this, we are proud to not only support our national and local charity partners through donations, but to also provide extra hands to the local organizations that make a difference in their community each and every day.” Since its inception in 2012, Mazda Drive for Good has donated more than $18.4 million. Mazda employees, dealers and partners deliver nearly 263,000 hours of charitable service. Charitable Event The 2016 Mazda Drive for Good charitable event took place November 21, 2016 through January 3, 2017. For every new Mazda vehicle purchased or leased during that time, Mazda donated $150 to one of four national, or 42 local, charities. This ultimately allowed the customer to choose where the money was directed. In addition to the monetary donation, Mazda pledged one hour of charitable service for every test drive of a new Mazda vehicle.
