Mazda3 earns another award!

It was recently announced that the 2016 Mazda3 5-Door S Grand Touring has been selected as the ‘Best Compact’ vehicle for Good Housekeeping / Car and Driver’s inaugural ‘2016 Best New Car Awards.’ Now how awesome is that? more Good Housekeeping, along with Car and Driver, worked together to screen an initial list of the top 160 vehicles all the way down to 41 vehicles. They named four categories: Compact, Sedan, Eco and Crossover. Then, the engineers from the Good Housekeeping Institute logged over 2000 miles on the roads. They took into account a multitude of vehicle features. They tested everything from performance, safety features, and family friendliness, to price, infotainment systems, usability, storage and intuitive design. The 2016 Mazda3 was popular for its stylish design and sophisticated MAZDA CONNECT system that set it apart from the competition. “The sleek KODO design and Mazda's SKYACTIV™ Technologies are what differentiates Mazda from other automakers,” said Robert Davis, Senior VP of U.S. Operations, Mazda North American Operations. Celebrate Driving: Mazda’s Dedication

Mazda is dedicated to building cars that allow their drivers, who brim with the Celebrate Driving, to control them to their heart’s desire. Always has been and always will be. more To this end, we are extremely happy to be able to assist in providing everyone with amazing driving experiences so that they can even further appreciate the Celebrate Driving when they grasp the steering wheel of these cars for themselves. Although the driving process is usually fairly unconscious, by concentrating on controlling the car with proper technique we can deepen our real abilities. By doing this, the connection between the car and driver, and even the passengers, becomes more consolidated which makes even the most casual drive that much more enjoyable. When this results in a desire to drive even further, to us there is nothing better. In an accident, the instantaneous reaction from the car and the driver’s response is something that can only be experienced in an emergency. We think it is important to provide opportunities for drivers to experience the safety features of their car, along with the limits of its performance, as well as the driver’s own ability, before an accident ever occurs. There are in infinite variety of ways for drivers to interact and enjoy cars, polish their technique and take on the challenge to achieve even more. We support a variety of desires that people wish to achieve through their cars, whether it be as a hobby, a source of pride, a way to interact with family, or to even realize their dreams. I believe that this aim of delivering a car that provides the “Celebrate Driving” is our mission. We think it is important for Mazda owners, who each have their own aspirations, to be provided with the chance to experience actual driving lessons and compete in real motorsports, in order that they can fully appreciate and enjoy their Mazda cars. To that end we provide stages in which each driver can participate within their own style. A car is not just something that you use to get around. Mazda’s belief in the “Celebrate Driving” is an aim to enrich and make people’s lives more enjoyable through their vehicle. If you want to learn what it’s like to celebrate driving, stop by Beach Mazda and we’ll start the party!

Consumers Digest: Mazda is Best Buy 2016!

Consumers Digest Names 2016 Mazda3 and Mazda6 as ‘Best Buys’ for 2016 more What do you get when you combine 54 years of commitment to the consumer, scrutiny of 12 automobile design and performance characteristics, and 124 combined years of behind-the-wheel auto know-how? Consumers Digest’s Automotive Best Buy recommendations for the 2016 model year, that’s what. That means 48 recommended vehicles (across 13 classes of automobiles) that represent exceptional values in each segment. It means evaluation of specific vehicle attributes; analysis by and feedback from six longtime automotive journalists; answers to questions that you would pose to dealers and salespeople yourself. What don’t you get? You don’t get dated, often inappropriate recommendations of vehicles that are based solely on prior model-year surveys. You don’t get reviews by amateurs. You don’t get recommendations that are rooted in bias. The 2016 Mazda3 and the 2016 Mazda6 have earned top honors on the Consumers Digest “Best Buys” list for 2016. The Mazda3 was selected in the “Compact Cars” category, while the Mazda6 was named one of the best “Family Cars.” Consumers Digest describes the 2016 Mazda6 as “one of the most entertaining-to-drive midsize sedans” and says that “the cabin is spacious and quiet and affords generous rear legroom…” The 2016 Mazda3 is recognized as a “Best Buy” because it “looks, feels and drives like a more expensive car.” The magazine describes the 2016 Mazda3 as being “the sportiest-feeling model in its class…” Both vehicles are currently available at dealers nationwide. Consumers Digest determines “Best Buys” by recognizing the cars with exceptional value. According to the magazine, value is based by the car’s purchase price and ownership costs, as well as comfort, performance and utility. The automotive experts with Consumers Digest decide category winners after driving the vehicles under a range of circumstances and conditions, while also using a checklist to determine performance characteristics and design quality.

This lightweight open-top two-seater front-engine rear-wheel drive sports car is designed to provide pure Jinba-ittai driving fun. In redesigning the model Mazda concentrated on stimulating the senses and sensations through which people enjoy cars at a deeper level than ever before. Also, in redesigning the Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mazda aimed to further deepen the experience of driving fun and managed to both perfect the driving position and reduce the weight of the car by over 100 kilograms. While ensuring that the Mazda MX-5 Miata would remain a true driver’s car, Mazda engineers were determined to make the vehicle practical enough for daily use, adopting a weatherproof, easy-to-open-and-close top and ensuring enough space in the luggage compartment for two carry-on-sized bags. All passenger vehicles with an expected annual sales volume of over 500 units, announced or launched in Japan between October 1, 2014 and October 31, 2015 are eligible for this year’s Car of the Year Japan award. We aim to become a “one-and-only” brand for our customers, a brand they

Mazda Vehicle Community – Picture This!

If you’re not already addicted to Instagram, you might think that it’s only used to share pictures of pop-up burger joints and poolside selfies. However, the photo-sharing cell-phone app is actually a pretty handy way of staying social with the Mazda vehicle community and snapping some super-cool pictures of your beloved Mazda vehicle. To get involved, all you need to do is download the Instagram app onto your smartphone, pick a username and start populating your profile with pictures of your Mazda vehicle. Check out our handy guide  below to taking the very best pictures to post. There’s a range of filters and editing options available to make your pictures look (almost) professional. Plus you can tag up your images using the hashtag symbol (#) to ensure as many people as possible see your snaps. And, with over 300 Million active users on the app alone, that’s a lot of eyes! If that’s not enough, you can search and follow like-minded Instagrammers to see pictures of their cars, and search existing hashtags to get involved in the community. So, get snapping and sharing! Who know who will see your pictures… Better Pictures: The Zoom-Zoom Guide Frame your subject – Take time to square things up. Getting your horizon level really makes a difference and adds to a sense of balance. If you’re struggling to keep things straight, edit your picture after it’s been taken using the free leveling took in Instagram before uploading it. Check the background – When taking pictures and/or selfies with your Mazda vehicle, keep an eye on your background. You don’t want a tree or any other object sprouting out of your sunroof! Exposure – A camera can’t see light as well as your eyes can. Using an iPhone makes it easier to adjust the focal point of your picture. Just tap on the screen as you’re about to take your shot. If you’re taking a picture of a dark or light car this helps the smartphone camera to adjust. Light – Try to avoid shooting in the middle of the day as the sun can cast hard shadows on your image. The best time to photograph your car is the so-called “Golden Hour”. That is the precious 60 minutes before sundown. After that, the artificial light on the streets and in parking lots can be used to great effect. Creativity – Keep it fun and try a different take on the same theme. When you’re shooting your Mazda vehicle, try a close-up of as certain design feature. Or, totally change the look and feel of the photo by converting it to black and white. And don’t forget to tag the image with tags like #zoomzoommag #drivingmatters #mazdausa #mymazda #longlivetheroadster Don’t forget, Beach Mazda and Beach Automotive Group are also on Instagram! Tag us as well with #beachmazda or #beachautomotivegroup because we love to see our Mazda vehicle drivers enjoying their Mazda moments!

Mazda Miata

Mazda Miata – 1/2 Million (S)miles

Planes and trains are of little interest to Eddy Avol. But that doesn’t mean that the IT consultant from Rockland County, 40 minutes north of New York City, isn’t a fan of travel. He just prefers to do it by automobile, in his Mazda Miata. more “I’ve probably done over 20 cross-country road-trips, coast to coast trips in the last 20 years,” smiles Eddy. “In fact this year, I did an 8,500 mile round trip to Southern California, then up to Oregon, then back to New York. It was fun.” A large ingredient of the fun is undoubtedly Eddy’s car of choice: a white 1990 Mazda Miata NA. Bought new, the roadster now has an astonishing 448,000 miles on the clock. “It’s my only car, and I don’t commute in it and don’t take it out in the winters as I don’t to get any salt on the bodywork,” says Eddy. “I just take off, see the country via the back roads. It’s so good just to drive. Some people might say that’s a scary thing to do considering the distances I travel, but I trust my NA completely.” In 25 years of ownership, the white Mazda Miata has only let Eddy down once.  “The only time I’ve had a problem with the car was when I took out the stock fuel pump after 350,000 miles,” he says. “I figured after all that time the thing just wouldn’t last. but there was nothing wrong actually wrong with it. Replacing it was just preventative maintenance. So, I put in an aftermarket fuel pump, and a year later that failed!” he laughs. “The only time in a quarter of a century that I’ve needed a tow.” He replaced it with an original Mazda Miata part and hasn’t had a single problem since. Unsurprisingly, Eddy is in no hurry to get a new ride. “I’ve got absolutely no plans to replace it and I’ve definitely got to hit the magic 500,000 miles,” he adds. “Above all, I love this car and the people that I’ve met because of it. It’s just awesome! The clubs, the other owners, the whole social scene?buying a Mazda Miata is the best thing I ever did.”

Mazda Wins Corporate Communications Award

Mazda Motor Corporation was today awarded the Grand Prize for Corporate Communications in the 31st annual Corporate Communications Awards organized by Keizai Koho Center (Japanese Institute for Social and Economic Affairs). It is the first time the company has taken the prestigious Grand Prize. more The Corporate Communications Awards were founded by the Keizai Koho Center in 1984 with the aim of promoting corporate communications in Japan and each year it recognizes corporations, executives and workers for excellence in corporate communications. The Grand Prize awarded to Mazda this year is given to corporations that contribute to society by understanding societal expectations and reflecting them into their business practices while accurately communicating with stakeholders regarding their activities. Below is an excerpt from Keizai Koho Center’s media briefing materials outlining the reasons Mazda was chosen to receive the award. “From their headquarters in Hiroshima, Mazda is speaking to a global audience. Their communication activities are strategic, emphasizing their unique SKYACTIV™® TECHNOLOGY and KODO-Soul of Motion design, and expressing the philosophy behind them in “a story that reveals the heart.” Mazda is taking a consistent, company-wide approach to communications internally as well, promoting a philosophy which stresses “your work is not done until you can communicate it.” Public perception regarding Mazda’s cars has improved dramatically, and the company is gaining an image as a brand that makes appealing cars that stand out from the crowd. Also important is the role they have played in post-war Hiroshima, both economically and culturally, including their support of the local professional football and baseball teams, despite going through periods of difficulty themselves. “It is an honor to receive this prestigious award with such a long history,” said Masamichi Kogai, Mazda’s Representative Director, President and CEO. “I believe this award recognizes the steady company-wide efforts we have made to communicate the thinking behind Mazda’s products and manufacturing as well as our corporate personality. And the achievement can only be attributed to the support of our stakeholders, such as the media who are interested in our activities and frequently report them, as well as all devoted Mazda owners. Taking encouragement from this award, Mazda will continue to work hard to use communications as a tool to create empathy between Mazda and its customers at a variety of touchpoints, aiming to become a brand that builds a special bond with our stakeholders.”

Mazda RX Vision

SKYACTIV™-R and the Mazda RX-VISION

Powered by next-generation rotary engine SKYACTIV™®-R, the Mazda RX-VISION represents Mazda’s vision of the future. more Mazda Motor Corporation unveiled the rotary-powered Mazda RX-VISION sports car concept at the Tokyo Motor Show recently The rotary engine is a symbol of the company’s “never-stop-challenging” spirit. Mazda RX-VISION represents a vision of the future that Mazda hopes to one day make into reality; a front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car with exquisite, KODO design-based proportions only Mazda could envision, and powered by the next-generation SKYACTIV™®-R rotary engine. Rotary engines feature a unique construction, generating power through the rotational motion of a triangular rotor. Overcoming numerous technical difficulties, Mazda succeeded in commercializing the rotary engine, fitting it in the Cosmo Sport (known as Mazda 110S overseas) in 1967. As the only automaker to mass-produce the rotary engine, Mazda continued efforts to improve power output, fuel economy and durability, and in 1991 took overall victory at 24 Hours of Le Mans with a rotary engine-powered race car. Over the years, the rotary engine has come to symbolize Mazda’s creativity and tireless endeavor in the face of difficult challenges. While mass production is currently on hold, Mazda has never stopped research and development efforts towards the rotary engine. The next rotary engine has been named SKYACTIV™®-R, expressing the company’s determination to take on challenges with convention-defying aspirations and the latest technology, just as it did when developing SKYACTIV™®and SKYACTIV™®-R TECHNOLOGY. “I look forward to talking with you more about this vision we have revealed here today at the Mazda stand,” said Mazda’s Representative Director, President and CEO, Masamichi Kogai. “Mazda will continue to take on new challenges in an effort to build a special bond with our customers and become their ‘one and only’ brand.” In line with the company’s theme for the Tokyo Motor Show this year, “Accelerate toward our dreams,” Mazda will make an appeal for the brand’s unique approach to driving pleasure. In addition to the sports car concept, Mazda KOERU will be on display along with new-generation models featuring SKYACTIV™®-R Technologies and KODO-Soul of Motion design. A motor sports exhibit will feature racing-spec Roadsters and the Cosmo Sport will compliment a heritage display showing Mazda ‘s history of convention-defying engineering.
