The capability to present more features while staying lightweight is not always an easy mission. Mazda is devoted to the integrity of the MX-5 Miata. It’s an iconic roadster with over a million units made. It’s also the Guinness World Record holder for the best-selling two-seater sports car. For over 30 years, the front mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout has developed to fit the ever-changing client needs. Through its many reiterations, the 2020 MX-5 Miata presents more features while retaining the essential qualities of a driver’s car: lightweight, nimble and most significantly, fun-to-drive.

Delightful Drive

All MX-5s come universal with a Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter engine. It produces 181 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. This powertrain can be combined with a Skyactiv-MT six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The Miata’s engine paired with its lightweight structure and nimble driving dynamics give an exceptional power-to-weight ratio that calls pure delight on just about any road.

Humble, but Not Simple

The MX-5 Sport might be the humblest fourth-generation soft top Miata, but it is far from simple. This wonderfully engineered roadster is outfitted with numerous lightweight elements that help provide its iconic handling, dynamics and natural driving feel. For 2020, MX-5 Sport includes more i-Activsense safety features that include:

  • Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Smart City Brake Support
  • Lane Departure Warning System

Next Step Up

Progressing from the MX-5 Sport, drivers have the choice of the tougher-edged MX-5 Club or the opulent MX-5 Grand Touring. Both the MX-5 Club and MX-5 Grand Touring are presented in a soft top as well as in a RF – retractable fastback – design. The MX-5 RF can open or close its roof in a incredible 13 seconds thus providing the look and feel of both a muscular coupe and an iconic convertible. MX-5 Club and MX-5 Grand Touring are now offered in Mazda’s new Polymetal Gray exterior color.

Top of the Line

The MX-5 Club arrives in 2020 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as a new feature. When stocked with the Skyactiv-MT manual transmission, this trim level contains a limited-slip differential, Bilstein dampers, front shock tower brace and sport-tuned suspension. This trim level also includes all the i-Activsense safety features from the MX-5 Sport and improves the driving experience with a Bose® nine-speaker audio system. The MX-5 Club is furnished with heated black cloth-trimmed seats with silver stitching, 17-inch Metallic Black aluminum alloy wheels, front black air dam, black rear lip spoiler and black interior accents and vinyl leather to help inspire a snazzy environment.
